The town is in shock and despair after Italian Airway Line aircraft 1105, which was traveling from northern Tennessee, crashed in Pigeon Forge. With more than 150 people on board, the plane lost control and slammed into the famous LeConte Center, a significant convention and event venue, severely damaging half of the structure.

Witnesses describe the situation as hectic, with emergency personnel scurrying to the crash site. At the time, the LeConte Center, the epicenter of many events such as the famed Pigeon Forge Rod Run, was operating full tilt, serving as the venue for a community function. The building collapsed in several places, trapping participants as well as airline passengers.

Rescuers from the wreckage are presently being assisted by emergency personnel. Although there have been some reported deaths and injuries, the precise toll is still being verified as the situation develops. Paramedics are delivering immediate medical attention while firefighters are fighting a sizable fire brought on by the hit.

Aviation authorities have started looking into any mechanical issues or unfavorable weather conditions that might have contributed to the accident, even though the reason of the crash is yet unknown.

Due to the closure of surrounding highways and the implementation of emergency evacuation orders, local businesses and individuals have also been impacted.
