In the Peace River Wildlife Center neighborhood of Punta Gorda, Florida, a terrible wildfire has just broken out, resulting in extensive damage and fatalities in the surrounding towns. Strong winds and dry conditions caused the fire to spread swiftly after it started, seriously damaging the wildlife center as well as the nearby residential neighborhoods.
Though the fast-moving fire has already damaged numerous structures and prompted the evacuation of local people, emergency services are still on the scene fighting the flames. The precise number of fatalities is still being ascertained while search and rescue operations continue, but authorities have verified many deaths.
