Following a strong storm that badly damaged homes and valued neighborhood monuments, Naples, Florida, is in shock. Numerous historic landmarks, local businesses, and residential districts throughout Naples have been affected by the storm, which came with little notice and brought with it strong winds, a lot of rain, and flooding.
Waterfront regions were among the hardest hit, with flooding and large waves wreaking havoc on beloved coastal locations. Debris was strewn around the formerly attractive surroundings, causing significant damage to iconic monuments like the Naples Pier and surrounding stores. Water flooded many homes in low-lying neighborhoods, forcing residents to leave and displacing entire communities.
Volunteers and residents are banding together to support those impacted as the city starts to rebuild as recovery activities get underway. Even though the road to recovery will be difficult, the people of Naples are resilient and hopeful as they work to restore the city’s most valued features.
