A horrific incident near Churchill Downs on Sunday night resulted in one man’s death and another other suffering grave injuries. Just before midnight on Sunday, according to LMPD spokesman Aaron Ellis, police were called to a single car crash in the 3800 block of Southern Parkway. According to witness accounts, a pickup vehicle was driving on Southern Parkway when it lost control, struck a tree squarely, and caught fire.
On the spot, the passenger was declared deceased. The motorist was sent to the University of Louisville Hospital with “serious injuries”.
